Feedback from the Bake-Off

Many thanks to all those who baked and entered our partnership competition on Saturday 6th May and to all parishes involved. The judges said all entries were of a high standard and it was hard to make a decision! There were some truly amazing cakes, including the two fabulous chocolate cakes from Crook complete with chocolate orange slices and the amazing Victoria Sponge from Coundon that was something to behold! We will be doing more joint efforts as we move forward together. The amount raised for Christian Aid was £90.10.

Happy Easter!

The Parish of St Mary and St Wilfrid wish all of you a very happy Easter!

Week of Prayer: United Service

We are already a few days into the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which started on Wednesday 18th January.

As part of this special week, there will be a United Service at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 22nd January at 3pm with a guest speaker, Revd David Herbert, Moderator of the Northern Synod of the United Reformed Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The final service for the Week of Prayer is on Wednesday 25th January and will, as usual, be in St Paul’s Church at Witton Park at 7pm. This day is the feast of the Conversion of St Paul.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Here at the Parish of St Mary and St Wilfrid, we wish you all a happy Christmas! Enjoy the holidays as we look forward to the start of 2017. May the season treat you well and give you lots to smile about! Best wishes!

FTiH – Our Partnership Proposals

Forward Together in Hope asks us to look ahead to what might be in store for our parish and the wider Catholic community in our diocese. We have recently completed a document known as Our Partnership Proposals with the other members of our deanery. This has been submitted to the diocese for consideration. We will share further news and updates when they are available. In the meantime you can discuss what this means for us in our parish meetings for Forward Together in Hope and also contact the office if you have any questions.
