We are already a few days into the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which started on Wednesday 18th January.
As part of this special week, there will be a United Service at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 22nd January at 3pm with a guest speaker, Revd David Herbert, Moderator of the Northern Synod of the United Reformed Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The final service for the Week of Prayer is on Wednesday 25th January and will, as usual, be in St Paul’s Church at Witton Park at 7pm. This day is the feast of the Conversion of St Paul.
Here at the Parish of St Mary and St Wilfrid, we wish you all a happy Christmas! Enjoy the holidays as we look forward to the start of 2017. May the season treat you well and give you lots to smile about! Best wishes!
Forward Together in Hope asks us to look ahead to what might be in store for our parish and the wider Catholic community in our diocese. We have recently completed a document known as Our Partnership Proposals with the other members of our deanery. This has been submitted to the diocese for consideration. We will share further news and updates when they are available. In the meantime you can discuss what this means for us in our parish meetings for Forward Together in Hope and also contact the office if you have any questions.
Please note that Mass on Thursday 1st December will be at St Wilfrid’s RC Primary School instead of the church. It will be at the usual 09:30am time. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the parish office on (01388) 603431. Thank you.
On Tuesday 18th October at 7pm at St Mary’s Church, Bishop Auckland, we will be hosting the Northern Cross Communicators’ Mass. Bishop Seamus Cunningham will be in attendance as this is one of his engagements across the diocese.
