On Tuesday 18th October at 7pm at St Mary’s Church, Bishop Auckland, we will be hosting the Northern Cross Communicators’ Mass. Bishop Seamus Cunningham will be in attendance as this is one of his engagements across the diocese.
Tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 11th October at 2pm) we’ll be holding our monthly film club in St Mary’s meeting room and the film chosen is Roxanne. Come along for a chat, some refreshments and a little socialising. If you need transport or support to attend, please let us know by phoning the office (01388 603431). Everyone is welcome – invite a friend!
The Parish of St Mary and St Wilfrid have arranged dates for a family Mass to take place in each church. The next date is on Sunday 16th October. For other dates through to June 2017, please see the posters below with more information for each church:
Thank you to the pupils of St Chad’s RCVA Primary School for being involved in the Masses at St Wilfrid’s Church and to the pupils of St Wilfrid’s RC Primary School for being involved in the Masses at St Mary’s Church
Our parish will be holding its annual Harvest Masses over the weekend of 1st and 2nd October ahead of the Harvest Fast Day on 7th October 2016. With YOUR help, this harvest day you can help CAFOD help Bolivian communities learn modern farming methods to grow their foods and ensure they don’t go hungry this year. Further updates will be available in our weekly bulletin.
Please see the CAFOD poster for more information.
A special Mass in celebration of mothers will be held tomorrow (Saturday 10th September) at 10am in St Mary’s Church. Why not bring along a favourite photograph of your mother to be placed on the altar during this special Mass. Everyone is welcome – we would love to see you there! Please note that there will be no Mass at St Wilfrid’s tomorrow.
Over the weekend, our parish will be completing the Forward Together in Hope leaflets during Mass. We will make a digest of the responses we receive and this will help us represent our parish at wider meetings. We will have a parish meeting to share where we are up to following your written responses on Tuesday 20th September at 7pm in St Mary’s meeting room. This will replace the scheduled Forward Together in Hope Group Meeting.
Here’s a few of the highlights taking place in the parish this week:
- On Monday the art group will be held at 7pm in St Mary’s
- Tuesday sees the return of the Film Club (2pm) and there will be a Quiz Night (7.30pm) in St Mary’s. We’d love to see you there!
- Our local CAFOD group will be meeting at 7pm on Wednesday in St Mary’s. Everyone is welcome to attend.
